Matthew and me hike the Peruvian Trail - July 16, 2013
Today Matthew and I had our "date" and hiked up the Peruvian Trail at Snowbird. It was steep and a bit of a butt-kicker but it was so much fun doing the hike with him! We did this hike two years ago and I am glad he chose this hike again!
Who's that good-lookin' guy on that trail going up...up...up?
The wildflowers were found in abundance so enjoy their beauty and the beauty of the Peruvian trail.
Yes, we had snow towards the top! Pretty good patch there...as you can see Matthew posing by. It was fun to put some on my face, neck, arms, and legs! Cool was good!
Matthew wrote in a patch of sand near the top..."Matthew was here" with the date...for all who would come after us!
Yeah! At the top...altitude 11,000 ft! Whew! I felt like kissing the ground when we summited!
This tram was just coming up to drop off its passengers. When it made its descent we were on it! Fun!

2013 Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay...and Brent
On Thursday, June 20th, Brent and his team began the Ragnar Relay. Brent had three legs, one of those an 11-miler non supported run at night and the last leg part way up a very steep Guardsman Pass. Dad and I were able to go up on Friday and pick him up. That was a lot of fun!
This photo is of Brent when he got the Park City High School football field where the event finish was. Brent and all of the team except for the last runner finishing his leg got there. Brent came over to chat until time to go meet his team and the last runner and run together to the Finish.
Brent running across the Ragnar Finish line. He really looked good!
The team heading to get their Finisher medals.
In line for their medals! As Brent says...he runs for the t-shirts and the medals!
Brent has his medal in had.
There are two orange backgrounds and Brent and his team are getting their team photo taken at the far north one.
Cousin Kristopher Lange got on the team at the last minute. He and Brent before he went to meet his wife.

A Navy Commissioning - April 9, 2013
Dad / Jim enjoyed a special opportunity this afternoon. A few weeks ago Kristopher (Lynda's son) asked if he would commission him into the Navy. Kristopher recently decided to finish his medical schooling through the Navy and then will commit years after that to the Navy. So we met at a Navy office in the Jordan Commons building (the tall building by the theatre) for this special experience. Dad commissioned Kristopher an Ensign. When he completes his schooling he will advance to Lieutenant. Dad was thrilled to wear his uniform and be a part of the Navy for a few hours. Here are some photos of that event!
The Commissioning.
It's done!

Signing the final pages of paperwork.
Dad's turn to sign the papers as the Commissioning Officer.
